•  Current Wilderness First Aid (WFA) and CPR certification or higher (or ability to obtain certification prior to start of employment)
  • Valid driver’s license with excellent driving record
  • Previous leadership and/or group facilitation experience
  • Ability to work with little time off and limited personal time
  • Criminal background check required
  • Good decision making skills, ability to work independently and maintain composure under pressure, ability to adapt to variable environments while maintaining the safety and enjoyment of participants
  • Ability to manage risk, deal with unforeseen health and logistical issues, manage group dynamics, and ensure a memorable and enjoyable experience for all participants

Preferred Qualifications

  • 21 years or older
  • Current Wilderness First Responder (WFR) or higher certification
  • Previous travel experience to Germany, Croatia, Montenegro, and/or Iceland
  • Previous employment as a trip leader/guide on multi-day trips
  • Multi-day backpacking and/or biking experience
  • Kayaking experience
  • Additional certifications such as lifeguarding or ACA canoeing/kayaking certifications
  • Applicants who are able/willing to return and lead future Carpe Mundo trips


If selected, you will be provided with a competitive stipend (commensurate with experience and ability). Roundtrip transportation to trip locations will be provided (with the opportunity to arrive early and/or stay late for personal travel), as well as accommodations and a daily meal allowance. A retention bonus (in addition to the stipend) will be awarded to any trip leader who is invited back to lead future trips.
